
Lemonade Series: Come in from 5:00 - 7:00 on the first Weds of the month for Lemonade, treats and a Free Demo. Kits and Supplies will be available for you to do these projects on your own. July 7th - Fast and Adorable Fashion Belt August 4th - Laundry Bag (or Beach Bag) with Grommets September 1st - Easy Zipper Bag Learn how to do a cute belt to match any outfit you want in any size. All you need it a little strip of fabric, some interfacing, some D rings and a sewing machine. Weds July 7th any time between 5-7 See Mary McGinnes demo how to do it. With all the fabric scraps you have around you can get any color you want. Come for a handout, demo and some Lemonade and treats. Pieced Applique: Meeting the second Saturday of the month from 9:00 - 10:30 am. This is a fascinating technique that Peggy Orlofske took a class on in Houston last fall and LOVED! We liked the cheerful line of fabric she used in the class so much that we bought it for the kits. The book is by Penny Haren. Cost of the kits and instruction per month is $10. Cost of instruction only is $60 for the year. We will have extra kits, so you can get the kits and join us at any time. Sampler Magic: We have a beautiful "Mail Out" or "Sit and Sew" Sampler Magic Quilt lead by Anna Stracener. Or, better yet, save postage and stop by and pick it up. It is a beautiful quilt and we are making it up using several of the fabrics in the "Cider Mill Road" collection by Nancy Halverson for Benartex. The pattern pictured above. Start this any time you want. You will get one kit a month for 10 months and a finishing kit at the end. Victory Quilt: This includes instruction on basic blocks and moves on to a little more advanced blocks as the year goes on. We are also including interesting notes on the women who kept the country together during WWII. The book is by Eleanor Burns and we have selected 12 blocks with a variety of techniques. We will give you many ideas on other projects with the blocks too. The fabric for the kits is period fabric. This class is held the 4th Saturday of the month from 9:00 - 10:30. Kits will be available. You may also pick your own fabric if you want. Taught by Gloria Stehley and Elaine Mason. Sit and Sew Workshops: Meeting from 9:00 - 3:00 once a month on either the third Friday or the third Saturday of the month. We are using the book Quilts From The Quiltmaker's Gift choosing four quilts for the year. We spend three months on each quilt. Do one, or do them all. Cost for each three month quilt is$30. Follow the Leader - July - September Pick your own fabrics or purchase a kit and learn this interesting block. Make any size you want. See what everyone else is doing. You will have 3 months to work on it. Rosebud - October - December Once Upon a Star: Nine month kit project starting in January. We are using the McKenna Ryan Patterns. Come in any time between 5-7 on the second Weds of the month to pick up your new kit, see a demo and see what everyone else is doing. We will show you techniques in machine applique and embellishing. We'll have light snacks to sustain you till you get home. Kits will be priced individually. Start in January or later if you want. Do one, or do them all. Do each as a little quilt or put them all together in one large quilt. Julie Surprenant is doing the samples and organizing the kits. Here are the first five she has completed. They are adorable!! Cost for the day $10. Other Events coming up this year: South Central Wisconsin's Summer Shop Hop will be held July 21 - 25. Go on your own or go on a bus. The bus tours will be Thursday and Friday, the 22nd and 23rd. Mark these dates now so you can have fun shop hopping this summer. There will be door prizes, free patterns and ideas galore. Madison's Quilt Expo 2010! this year's dates are September 9-11. Our shop will be a vendor there again , and we will also be participating in the little mini "booth hop" with passports to stamp, free demos at each booth and a chance to win a door prize.
